Devonshire House
A whole-house refurbishment, finished to the last grout line.
A whole-house job. The clients had bought the place knowing it needed everything. They wanted it done in one sweep, by one team, finished properly.
We started in the bathroom. The room that mattered most to them. Olive kit-kat tile, laid vertically, with a thin brass inlay running through to break the wall up. The shower wall is Arabescato marble, with a tiled niche and brass shower set. The bath is an inset deep-soaker. The cistern enclosure is tiled in the same kit-kat to keep it quiet, with a brass push-plate dropped into the front. The floor is white marble-effect, laid book-matched.
The kitchen was next. Flat-fronted bronze cabinetry, white quartz worktop, integrated appliances, a single brass pendant over the cooking area. The handles are routed into the door fronts — no pulls — to keep the line clean. The splashback runs continuous in the same quartz so there's no upstand seam.
Through the hallway, we lifted what was left of the old boards and laid herringbone parquet right through into the living room. The skirtings went back to a deep Victorian profile. The doors are solid oak, hung properly, with brass furniture. The original sash windows in the living room were refurbished rather than replaced.
When we finished, the clients said it looked like the house had always been like this. That is what we are aiming for.
