Tottenham — across the reservoirs from us — is a growing renovation patch. The housing stock is mostly Victorian and Edwardian terraces, similar to Walthamstow, with the same kind of problems and the same kind of solutions.

Conservation coverage in N17 is patchier than in some neighbouring postcodes. Bruce Castle and parts of Tottenham Green have conservation status; much of the rest of the postcode is unconstrained, which means permitted development covers a lot of what families want to do.

The houses themselves are similar to E17 — late-Victorian London-stock terraces, bay-fronted, with sash windows and modest front gardens. The renovation patterns are the same: side returns, kitchen knock-throughs, loft conversions, full-house refurbishments.
